Exam Modes
Quizzz has a few independent knobs that decide how students answer and how you hand a quiz out. They combine freely — pick an answer mode, decide whether to run it live as a class exam, and choose how to distribute it.
1. Answer mode
Set per link. It only changes the student's answering experience — the questions and scoring are identical.

You can switch the mode of an existing link anytime — students see the new experience the next time they open it. It does not change their scores or your questions.

2. Class Exam (live) mode
A separate on/off layer on top of the answer mode. When on, the quiz runs as a teacher-controlled live session:
- Students enter their name first and wait in a lobby.
- You start the exam for everyone at once, and can close it when you're done.
- A projector view shows a join QR code, live join/submitted counts, and (optionally) student names — open it from the activity card's Open projector shortcut.
- You watch progress in real-time monitoring and see results as they come in.
When Class Exam is off, the link behaves like a normal self-paced link (students open it whenever they like).
Use Class Exam for synchronous, in-room assessment; leave it off for homework and take-home practice.
3. How you hand it out (link type)

Easy sharing: the QR code page
Every link has a QR code page — just add /qr to it. Project or print it, and students scan with their phone to start; you can also copy the URL or download a PNG. See an example →
Putting it together
- Homework for a class → Classroom link + Classic (or Guided) + Class Exam off.
- Live in-class test → Classroom link + any mode + Class Exam on (use the projector).
- Open practice on your site → Public link + Interactive, embedded.
- One-on-one assignment → Student link + Guided.
Manage all of this from a quiz's Activity tab in Quizzz ↗. Each link shows its mode, and a class exam in progress exposes Open exam, Open projector, and View details (full timing + live monitoring) right on the card.
