Questions, Quizzes, and Collections
In short: Quizzz has three sizes of content. A question is one item you keep and reuse. A quiz is the paper a student takes. A Collection is several quizzes behind one link.
| Unit | What it is | Where you manage it | How a student gets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Question | One reusable question | My Questions | Not on its own — it has to be in a quiz |
| Quiz | An ordered set of questions; what a student answers and is scored on | Quizzes | A share link, a class exam, an assignment, or an embed |
| Collection | Two or more quizzes, each tagged easy / medium / hard | Collections | One Collection link; the student picks a level |
Question
My Questions is your question bank: single questions kept on their own, outside any quiz, so you can find and reuse them.
- Tag and search them; every edit is saved as a new revision.
- It holds vocabulary, cloze, reading, and subject multiple-choice questions, true / false, and ordering. Matching, short answer, fill in the blank, listening, crossword, and word search questions live only inside quizzes for now.
- Removing a question archives it.
A question never reaches a student by itself. To use it, put it in a quiz.
Quiz
A quiz is the unit you share and grade. Links, class exams, results, and analytics all belong to a quiz — see Exam Modes and Results & Review.
A quiz keeps its own copy of every question in it.
Collection
A Collection points at quizzes you already have — it does not copy them. Edit a quiz and every Collection that includes it shows the new version; delete a quiz and it leaves its Collections. See Collections.
How they connect
Saving a quiz fills My Questions
When you save a quiz — in the quiz builder, from the AI assistant, through the Claude connector, or through the REST API — each question of a type My Questions can hold is added to My Questions automatically. You do not import anything by hand.
- A question identical to one already there is not added twice.
- Questions of other types are skipped; they stay in the quiz.
- A question that could be read but not fully checked is kept and marked Needs review.
Building a quiz from My Questions
In the quiz builder, Add from My Questions inserts questions you have saved. The quiz gets a copy.
Changes do not travel
Because a quiz holds copies, the two sides stay independent:
| You do this | What happens elsewhere |
|---|---|
| Edit a question in My Questions | Quizzes that already use it stay as they were |
| Edit a question inside a quiz and save | The My Questions entry is unchanged; the edited version is added as a separate question |
| Archive a question in My Questions | Quizzes that use it are unaffected |
| Delete a quiz | Its questions stay in My Questions |
For API and connector users
Each unit has its own endpoints and tools:
| Unit | REST API | Claude connector (MCP) tools |
|---|---|---|
| Question | /api/v1/question-bank/questions | list_bank_questions, get_bank_question, create_bank_questions, update_bank_question, archive_bank_question |
| Quiz | /api/v1/quizzes | create_quiz, get_quiz, update_quiz, patch_quiz, delete_quiz, … |
| Collection | /api/v1/collections | create_collection, list_collections, get_collection, update_collection |
Creating a question creates no quiz, and creating a quiz needs no question to exist first — send the questions inline.
Saving a quiz through either interface adds its storable questions to My Questions, the same as saving it in the teacher console — so do not also send those questions to the question bank endpoints, or you will store them twice.
